Jaan-E-Mann: A Musical Romance Film
Jaan-E-Mann (transl. Beloved) is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language musical romance film directed by Shirish Kunder and was produced by Sajid Nadiawala. The film stars Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta. This was Kunder's debut film as a director. He also edited and wrote the screenplay and dialogues.
The film revolves around the love triangle between Suhaan (Salman Khan), Piya (Preity Zinta) and Agastya (Akshay Kumar). Suhaan and Piya are married but separated due to Suhaan's career as a movie star. Agastya is Piya's college friend who had a crush on her but never confessed his feelings. When Piya files for divorce and demands a huge alimony, Suhaan and his uncle Bonney (Anupam Kher) hatch a plan to make Agastya and Piya fall in love so that Suhaan can avoid paying the money. However, things get complicated when Suhaan realizes that he still loves Piya and Agastya finds out the truth about Suhaan's scheme.

Jaan-E-Mann: A Box Office Failure
Jaan-E-Mann released on 20 October 2006 on the festive weekend of Diwali/Eid, clashing with Don The Chase Begins Again starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra. The film proved to be a commercial failure at the box office, earning only 46.26 crore (equivalent to 148 crore or US$19 million in 2023) against a budget of 40 crore (equivalent to 128 crore or US$16 million in 2023). The film was also criticized for its weak story, screenplay and dialogues, as well as its excessive use of special effects and melodrama.
Jaan-E-Mann: A Cult Classic
Despite its poor performance at the box office, Jaan-E-Mann has gained a cult following over the years among fans of Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta. The film is praised for its innovative filming techniques, visuals, production design, soundtrack and special effects.
